The essence of wedding photography is to capture perfectly all the sweet moments of your big day. From the big kiss to the exchange of wedding rings, every shot should make you want to relive your wedding day.
Am sure you understand that choosing the right wedding photographer is just as important as finding the right groom. That said, choose a professional wedding photographer before you even thinking of the shots you would like to have. Remember though that your wedding photographer can only do so much. There are so many things that you, the bride-to-be, can do to get great photographs.
1. Don’t be camera shy
Confidence and comfort looks amazing on camera. You can schedule a photo shoot before the wedding just to get comfortable with your photographer. It’s going to be easier for you if you have already been through it. Have fun when taking your wedding photos.
2. Practice your poses
The right poses can bring out the best in you shot after shot. For instance, to accentuate your bosom, make sure the elbows are away from your body. A professional photographer will teach you all the little tricks to bring out amazing pictures. All you have to do is, listen.
3. Have the right hair and makeup
Don’t plan on experimenting with makeup and different hair styles on your wedding day. Choose them during the dress rehearsals. You can even ask your photographer to take on some shots during the dress rehearsal so that you see how well the makeup and hair looks on camera.
4. Come up with creative props
Photographers can use different items to come up with creative shots. You need to think of them beforehand. Inexpensive props that can bring out amazing photographs include flowers, your wedding invitation and even your shoes.
5. Survey photography venues with beautiful backgrounds
A good background should complement your wedding color scheme and dress designs. Go through a number of venues with amazing backgrounds and take your photographer with you to give his professional advice. Beautiful backgrounds create breathtaking photographs.
6. Trust your photographer
You’ve chosen your photographer based on the amazing work he has done before. There’s no room for doubt on your wedding day. Don’t be surprised if you see him climbing trees or lying on the ground just to get the best shot. That’s what he is paid to do so trust him to know what is right for you.
7. Give your photographer a list of must-capture moments
Sometimes the best way to get the photographs you are hoping for is by directing the photographer about the shots that are most important to you. Point out samples you have come across online or the ones the photographer has taken previously.
