We all need a little inspiration when it comes to picking out wedding themes, décor, gowns, cakes…you name it! Besides spending time browsing wedding sites for ideas, you could also check out these programmes on TV:
The Wedding Show
This is Kenya’s longest standing wedding show and it airs on Citizen TV on Sunday evening. Hosted by Nina Ogot, it features local weddings, showcasing the actual weddings. You could even try applying to have your wedding featured on the show
My Dream Wedding
KTN’s wedding show comes courtesy of Samantha’s Bridal Magazine. Their concept involves a post wedding assessment by the couple, discussing the planning process, the vendors they chose and their budget. It’s a good place to see real vendors’ work.
Ndoa is NTV’s spin on weddings. It also features married couples sharing about their wedding planning process. However, they focus more on the couple’s experience than the event, sharing advice about how to overcome challenges in the marriage. You won’t see too much of the wedding itself but you might learn how to deal with troublesome in-laws and difficult vendors.
Say Yes to The Dress
Outside Kenya, Say Yes to The Dress is probably the most popular wedding show, with a focus on wedding dresses. It is a reality show set in a Manhattan bridal shop so you get to see brides coming in to search for their perfect wedding dress. This show is perfect for you if you want to see real brides try on real gowns and deal with dilemmas such as compromising on their dream gown because of budgets.
Brides of Beverly Hills
This TLC show’s concept is similar to Say Yes to the Dress, but with an entirely different clientele. Renee Strauss’ bridal shop in Beverly Hills caters to high end clients, with extravagant tastes. You will enjoy the drama of the brides and shop attendants and get to see endless designer gowns being tried on.
Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?
This is another reality show on the Style Network with a focus on wedding planning. The couple shares their wedding concept with the wedding planner who takes them to different vendors until the entire wedding falls into place.
