Kids can be overwhelming to have at any event especially a wedding. Depending on how many you have around, your wedding reception may be turned into one huge playground with the kids screaming from one corner to the other. Even with the possibility of this happening, you do not have to ban kids from your wedding completely. There are a few things you can do to make sure they have fun and are kept occupied.
Have a play area
Kids are very energetic and if you want to keep them from causing havoc, you need to have them occupied. The best way to do this is to have a designated play space where they can have fun. You can include some board and arcade games if you can to keep their little minds active. Make sure you communicate with the venue manager in advance if you are planning to have the play area.
Have a craft room
Kids love to draw and create things all the time. To keep them calm and cool at your wedding, have a separate craft room in addition to the play area. Install all the necessary play items for both boys and girls.
Get them to dance
The only way to wear kids out is to make sure they are active. One way you can do this is to get them on the dance floor. You can ask the DJ or band to play the kind of music the kids will dance to. With this, they will be celebrating the wedding with the adults and not get bored. The DJ or band doesn’t have to play music for the kids throughout the whole event, you can have them mix it up and play some from time to time just to make sure the adults don’t feel left out.
Get a kid’s entertainer
Keeping the kids busy and happy is not that complicated, all you have to do is make sure they are entertained. Keep the kids entertained by hiring a professional entertainer to spend time with them while the adults are at the ceremony or reception. You can get a comedian, magician, caricature artist, story teller or any other professional performer depending on how old the kids are.
If you are having an outdoor wedding, keeping the kids occupied is not that hard. You can have someone take them for a walk around the venue. If this isn’t enough, you can organize a number of outdoor activities such as water games if you are having a beach wedding or any other game that doesn’t distract the adults attending the wedding.
