Lamead Woman Network sets out to gradually mould a woman so she can realize what a beautiful being she is; to enable her nurture her dreams and to honor God through authentic living. The organization achieves these through a series of relevant events that holistically empower the woman.
We sat down with Cynthia Otieno, the founder of the organization for a candid talk. She tells us what it takes to achieve all these.
Briefly describe the concept behind Lamead Woman Network
La-Mead Woman is a novelty concept geared at women empowerment through ways that engage the women, not by outreach, but by being part of their day to day lives. The idea behind this is proactive conformity, and by this, La-Mead Woman reaches the woman by weaving ourselves into the modern woman’s routine and non-routine activities so that we not only reach them; but we become a part of their lives.
To empower, educate and nurture every woman to achieve her fullest potential in Africa and the world
To equip the woman with God’s original intent by enriching her on her significant role in society
Unleash your spark!

Why Lamead Woman?
The Lamead Woman is cosmopolitan; she is forward thinking and a trendsetter in society. She has a ‘can do’ factor under her belt. As a little girl she has many influences that define who she identifies herself with. She has given herself roles based on what society/the world has exposed her to.
Depending on her family, culture and geographical area of upbringing, she gets into a social dilemma. The dilemma is that those that are probably defining her role are also in the same uncertain predicament. Their statements are “A woman’s place is in……” she will complete it swiftly and efficiently based on what she has observed and been taught.
The Lamead Woman has to be able to uncover and address all inhibitions and find herself first in God.
This is the beginning of finding her bearing, going back to the source, the originator, the CREATOR. He is the one who has the original design plans for his original intent on his product. Only then will the woman be able to properly define her purpose, her power and role as woman.
We at Lamead Woman have discovered that for a woman to fully unleash her fullest potential/Spark, she has to go back to the source. Her spark is not identical to anyone else’s. It is unique to her. Our purpose is to help the woman to discover this Spark and remain ignited
Why do you think women need to be empowered much more than their male counterparts?
I do not feel that we need to empower women much more than men. If we do so we are comparing the two genders and assuming that one is being empowered more. I feel we need to empower women, period… the purpose, role and nature of women is different so we need to sensitize them to that understanding and equally expose them to their fullest potential based on that.
Do you think the contemporary society is doing enough to encourage women empowerment.
I do feel that as a society, we are doing better than 50 years ago or even 20 years ago.. we must appreciate that and celebrate every milestone that we have managed to accomplish. It’s actually commendable..
However, we need to do more. We need to clearly create a value chain for women, we need to teach women by demystifying some of the myths that they have grown up with especially the gender roles, we need to ask ourselves clearly, is there equal accessibility to resources for men and women? and actually teach them on how to access them from the grassroots.

Growth happening at a fast rate… the need to pace myself especially because I have very young children below the age of 5 years.
To what extent do you interact with your clients?
From the time a client contacts me via phone, email or Facebook
I schedule a one-one meeting. This is to better understand the nature of service the client needs; be it pre-marital coaching, bridal shower, or speaking engagement.
From that meeting I am able to better position my products and service to her or even recommend a best fit for her need.
Lamead Couples fill out a pre-marital questionnaire in detail and send back before we engage in the 10 week sessions. At the end of the coaching session, we offer follow up meet ups for 5 months.
For Bridal Shower clients, close friend or family get to fill out the Bridal Shower Profile. this is a questionnaire that helps me understand the bride and her needs for the day
After the bridal shower I offer a 1 year mentorship/follow up session whereby my team and I can coach and set the couple up to succeed, have a forum to bounce off information, clarify issues etc
And also a network of other couples within the same time frame they got married- we plan seminars, getaways and forums to keep the fire burning
For the classes and 10 week session for women- these are open for all women.
They get to fill out a questionnaire that helps the facilitators to actively engage their needs.
After the 10 weeks, the women are welcome to participate actively in other forums, meet ups and coaching session on a need basis.
