Have you ever dated someone online? How was your experience? As common as online dating is today, it might not be the best thing for those looking for a committed relationship. After consulting a few colleagues, we were amazed to see majority disagreeing with the online dating idea.
We then decided to tell our point of view on online dating. Below are six reasons why dating online may not be the best thing for you.
It’s time consuming
At one point you will have to go through hundreds of profiles on different sites before you finally make a choice. This is a complete waste of valuable time because there are other productive ways of meeting your intended partner.
It’s hard to find an honest person
Most people are not honest especially about their age, their marital status and their places of working. Almost everyone with an online dating profile has a little lie to make them be perceived as something they are not. A friend once said, “If you want a player, a gold digger, a con man/woman or womanizers go to a dating site”
At the beginning, online dating seems to be thrilling but it tends to get boring with time. Every little excitement slowly wears out as the days go. If you consider yourself goal-oriented, sorry but this is not for you.
There is lack of chemistry
What those profiles display is not good enough to actually say that you know the person. For a relationship to grow, there also needs to be chemistry, love science and compatibility. Through online dating it is difficult to find a compatible person.
It lacks seriousness
For how long can these online relationships last? First of all, it’s hard to find someone from your city. And as we all know, not all long distance relationships stand strong. Secondly, majority of online daters are there to flirt on a temporary basis and can easily go offline just when you think you are getting serious.
There is Insecurity and Lack of trust
Even in the real world, it is almost impossible to date when insecurity and lack of trust are involved. The pressure is more for those who are dating online. Because believe it or not questions like ‘where is my partner?’ or ‘who is my partner with right now?’ always pop up in 99% of relationships. You just have to take what the other person says when it comes to online dating.
