Great relationships are admirable, though writers mostly focus on what’s wrong in relationships, let’s look at what some couples are doing right.
The best couples who have been in relationship longest are mostly friends. Friends joke, friends tease, and they support each other. If you are in one of those relationships that you cannot have a conversation with your partner when there is a black out, there are some stuff to rethink. When all the romance and the thrill of dating start to fade, what you will need is your friend. A friend is also what you need when things are tough. Therefore make sure you actually like each other, before you love each other.
Communication is basic, in any form of a relationship, even a business relationship. In this case, you communicate through ‘love language’. This is affirmation, quality time, and emotional investment. Affirmation expresses your love and appreciation towards your partner. There is spending time with your partner and there is spending quality time with your partner. No, watching football together is not spending quality time. Emotional investment, you should be able to read your partners body language.
This shows you have invested in them emotionally to understand what some unspoken language means. There are days to talk about stuff and there are days to cuddle them away. If you have invested your time in studying them, you will tell the difference. TV personality and published author Dr. Hasani Pettiford said, “I have a Ph.D in my wife Danielle.”
Have something in common
Strong couples have something in common and activities they both love. Doing activities you love together creates a strong bond in couples. There are couples who bond over working out together, catching up with a favourite show, playing a game and such. It also gives you something to look forward to therefore creating some excitement.
They don’t have to have similar career and life goals, but similar goals to the future of their relationship. What do you hope out of your relationship? Why ladies are advised not to ask a man where it is headed, a wise lady would know. Ladies, stop taming the Casanova thinking that getting pregnant will make him a family man. That, is the beginning of trouble, since your goals are parallel, they’ll never meet.
They both Tango
They both work towards having a good relationship. Commitment to a relationship has a much better chance of surviving if both people make it a priority. This refers to my previous point, similar goals.
