Request for customer testimonials and even attend a wedding that the said wedding planner is planning in order to to see the caliber of work she does. Again ask for referrals from vendors she has worked with and couples she had organized their weddings previously.
- Part-time or full-time basis? Is the wedding planner on part-time or full-time basis?
No Bride wants a Wedding Planner who does not have the time to plan her wedding. Part-time wedding planners can cause needless headaches if they are not available to the bride. Once again, whether a part-time and full-time planner, ask for client testimonials to ascertain her quality of work.
- Portfolio: What is the average number of weddings you do in a year?
This question helps you analyze her capability as a Wedding planner and also lets you get a glimpse of her experience. Also find out if she has weddings on your wedding month and if she’s available on your planned wedding date.
- Are you budget conscious?
One duty of the wedding planner is to be as helpful and honest in fulfilling the bride’s dream for her wedding. If her aspirations are budget busting, it’s your obligation to communicate that with the bride and offer other pocket-friendly options that will help her see her dreams come to pass.
- Charges: How will you bill me?
Is the final charge inclusive or exclusive of VAT? Are there other surcharges, such as overtime? Inquire of the Wedding Planner how she is going to be paid from the beginning.
- Services: What type of services does the wedding planner offer?
Is s/he only available to plan your wedding at the planning stage or are they available till the post wedding? This will be the only way to note if the planner’s schedule is in line with your expectations. - What is your refund or cancellation policy?
At times the bridal team has a change of heart for various reasons such as financial reasons or even change of wedding date/ venue. This might lead them to want to cancel the wedding planning services. To this end, it’s important to inquire of the wedding planner during your initial meetings of the cancellation policy and what percentage of money can be refunded and after what time.
- Payment policy. What is the payment policy?
Some planners ask for a percentage of the payment at the beginning of the wedding, others for the whole amount. If payment is partial at the beginning, when is the final payment due? Find out if the event planners accept other modes of payment such as credit cards, checks or money orders or strictly cash.
