Wedding Gift Registry- Is It Acceptable in Kenya?
A wedding gift registry will make it possible for the bride and groom to direct their guests to buy certain gifts which they really need. Today, couples want to have their wedding their way, with minimal regard to societal preferences. One way to achieve this is by incorporating a wedding gift registry. It helps couples to avoid getting multiple gifts of the same kind from their wedding guests.
The bride and groom can use online shopping forums such as Jumia Kenya and Victoria Furnitures or supermarkets such as Nakumatt Holdings to submit their gift registries. The couples will visit the retailer and present them with their gift registry. They will then direct their guests to visit one of the shops which have their registry in order to buy them one of the gifts specified.
A gift registry offers a great advantage to the bride and groom as it allows them to express their needs as a newly married couple and gives you the guest that opportunity to help them start their life with the items they really need. The bride and groom will list many gifts that vary in prices so that guests do not feel overwhelmed by the price range.
The downside is that this is a new practice in Kenya and may be frowned upon by the more traditional guests. Other guests simply ignore the wedding gift registry and come with want they want, or come to the wedding empty handed.
