Now that you have decided your wedding theme and probably the date, the next thing you should do is shop for that wedding dress you’ve always wanted. However, before you go out and start shopping for a wedding gown, Molly’s Bridal Boutique have some tips on wedding gown shopping etiquette every bride should observe.
Make an appointment
To ensure that you don’t waste your time, make an appointment before you show up. This will give the boutique owner enough time to ensure that everything you need is ready when you arrive. Making an appointment will also guarantee that they have a member of staff ready and waiting to serve you. Some vendors can be very busy especially during the wedding season and making an appointment before showing up may be the only to guarantee that you get first class service.
Know what you want
When you get there, make sure you know exactly what you want or at least have a clue. Do you want a strapless dress, a short one, a long one with a train..? You need to communicate this clearly with the shop attendant to avoid wasting time. This is also the time to tell the shop attendant your budget and you should be straightforward about it.
Manage your emotions
When shopping for your dream wedding dress, be considerate to the other shoppers. While it’s perfectly ok to get excited with the dresses you are presented with, don’t overdo it. This is because some of the brides-to-be around you may not have found their dream gowns and your excitement may be in bad taste. This also applies in reverse- if you don’t find the dress you want, don’t get too emotional and start tearing up all the dresses in the boutique.
Wear light makeup
If you are addicted to make up, this is the day to avoid it. Since you will be trying quite a number of dresses and only pick one, make sure you wear light makeup when shopping for a wedding dress. You do not want to leave the wedding dresses with stains as this is extra work for the shop attendants.
Just because you booked an appointment does not mean that you spend the whole day at the boutique. Even though most attendants may tell you to take your sweet time, do not waste their time and be mindful of other shoppers who may also want to fit the same dresses you are trying.
